Come one come all...

Kyler decided to have a magic show tonight while I was at Bunco. My brother Derek came over to watch the kids so Kyler thought he had an audience. He made this sign and posted it in my front hallway. He really is a creative little kid. I love that he scans his face with his eyes open. He's probably going to go blind by doing this! He made Kason disappear, pulled a stuffed rabbit from a hat and made a piece of paper disappear and reappear.

He wore his Dracula cape from Halloween, I think I know what some little magician needs for his birthday or Christmas.

Sorry I didn't get pictures of everyone. The boys were running around all day and hardly made time to eat let alone get pictures taken. I know we are in December now but it's better late than never to post about a wonderful day spent with lots of family and good food. I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving Day.

Anyone want Cinnamon Rolls?

Am I crazy or what? It's 12:10 Sunday morning and instead of sleeping I am blogging about the cinnamon rolls that I just finished making. I was looking through some recipes as I was talking to Ben earlier (9:30p.m.) and came across a recipe for vanilla pudding Cinnamon rolls. It sounded good and I thought it would be fun to try to make them. I have never made cinnamon rolls in my life! I know it's a little late at 9:30 to START making cinnamon rolls but look what happens when your husband is out of town and you get an idea to make something. If anyone wants semi-fresh cinnamon rolls later, come on over! My hips, thighs and stomach will thank you. The funny thing is that cinnamon rolls really aren't one of my favorite things to eat, I just wanted to see if I could make them. The things you do when you have nothing else to do! I know it's stupid but I think my primary class will enjoy my craziness.

Happy 1st Date Anniversary

Can you believe that it's been 14 years since our first date? I had asked Ben to the Sadies dance in high school. We had a wonderful group and did such fun activities. Who could forget the turkey bowling! What good times. Oh to be young and kid less again (only for a day).

Kyler's story telling night

Kyler had a story telling night last night at his school. The kids had to read a book, memorize it and then tell it to everyone. This was on a volunteer basis (something I NEVER would have done). He chose the book Skeleton Hiccups. He did an awesome job! I am so proud of him. He was one of the best ones. Kyler you are one amazing kid and I love you very much!

Happy Halloween

Kason isn't the easiest person to get a picture of. Here he is before the school parade and during the parade he wouldn't look at me so all you get is a side shot of my "scary" vampire.

Trick or treating at grandma and grandpa Scott's house. Sorry grandpa but you don't make a very "pretty woman".
The kids had so much fun trick or treating with uncle C.J. Thanks so much for taking them out with you, they had a blast and got a lot more than they would have if it were just me that took them. So they thank you also. It's nice to have so much family around to help out.
We missed you Ben but hope to see you next weekend.
Happy Halloween!

Halloween doughnuts

Last night I got the bright idea to make homemade doughnuts for Halloween. I didn't want to actually spend Halloween making them so I decided to make them today.

Darcee, McKayle, and my mom came over to help make them. Then Derek and Kendal came over to frost and help decorate with sprinkles.

McKayle got stuck at the kids table helping them with their doughnuts.

Ellie, Avery, Kendal and McKayle putting sprinkles on some doughnuts.

Some of the finished products. These are ones that didn't get all of the sprinkles that the kids wanted to put on them. They weren't as good as Krispy Kreme but not too bad for my 1st time ever making doughnuts from scratch.

Monday night fights

I came home from work Monday night to find Ellie and Ben watching some fights on t.v. Ben thought it was so funny that Ellie learned to "fight" like they do on t.v. What a tomboy. I was so excited to have a girl but Ben treats her like one of the boys! I guess I am totally out numbered and should just be happy that she likes to get her nails painted. Maybe it's just because she likes to eat the polish right after they have been painted but I will tell myself it's because she isn't a total tomboy. Her favorite color is pink. She does like to wear dresses and play dress up. She says she is going to marry the little neighbor boy. Just let me live in my denial! Maybe I shouldn't encourage her so much in the video, but it was kind of funny to see her fight her daddy.

Ellie Update

O.K. so this may be way too many posts in one day but Ben is leaving tomorrow and I have to make good use of the laptop while it is here. There have been some people ask how Ellie is doing after her surgery. She is doing great. We have been over a month now and no fevers! I don't know if it is because of the surgery or just dumb luck, but whatever the reason we are extremely happy for it.

Before surgery with the sweetest nurse possible

After surgery she wasn't looking too hot. She threw up a couple of times in the car. Thank goodness for the little pink puke thing. I don't think she was in any mood to be taking pictures.

At home and all drugged up she was in a much better mood. She even wanted a drink of chocolate milk.
Now things are completely back to normal and she is as wild as can be. But we wouldn't want it any other way. We love her so much and are so happy she is part of our family.

Day 2

As I said before Ben had control over the camera so that kind of explains the pictures. The 2 are of the Mississippi river. I have never really traveled so everything to me was exciting and I would have got so many more pictures, but Ben seemed annoyed that I wanted pictures of "stupid things".

The Nauvoo temple was so pretty. I actually took the picture of that but Ben said we would go back later(that same day) and get a better picture of all of it. That never happened. Our time at Nauvoo was really rushed and we didn't get to do all that we wanted to but it was a really spiritual experience. It makes things so much more "real" for lack of better wording. It was definitely worth going for.

The pictures of the the house was where Joseph Smith started a hotel. We caught up with a tour group in the middle of the tour. We didn't know that we couldn't take pictures so the 3 pictures are from inside of that building. Brooke those are for you! I have so many more pictures of the gravestones (inside joke) if any one is interested I will e-mail you. It really was so neat to get to see some of the historical places from our religion. I am very grateful for the opportunity I had to go and to those who help make it possible. Sorry about the random placement of the pictures. I am still learning and I am slow.

Pictures at last!

O.K. Ben had control of the camera so here are some of the pictures from my visit back east. The first day that I was there we went to all of the local sights where he thought would be interesting. The rock islad arsanal (the biggest thrill for me!) the John Deere house and one other. This day was his day.So here are pictures from day one.

Nauvoo here I come!

As most of you know my husband has been gone for quite some time now. He has come and visited but it just never is long enough. He is going to be changing the area that he is working in so he said if I wanted to come out and see Nauvoo I would have to do it this weekend. I got on the phone with my family and started making arrangements for the kiddies to be placed in good homes while I will be away. Thanks again to all of my great family for your help. Then I called Matt to see if I could even get a flight. I know, I do things a little backwards. Things have fallen into place and it looks like tomorrow I will be going to visit my husband and see Nauvoo. I never thought that I would be doing anything like this and I am so excited. I will have to take pictures and post them all while I have Ben's laptop so everyone can see pictures.

If any of you that have been there have any suggestions on what to do or see let me know.

THANKS

I just wanted to send out a big thanks to those of you who have helped me with my kids this week and since Ben has been gone. It was such a huge relief not to have to worry about Ellie (surgery went great) and the boys. Ellie to seems to be recovering well and only wakes up a couple of times throughout the night saying that her mouth hurts. Grandma has been great to help with her since all Ellie wants now is to go with grandma. I really appreciate you mom. Thanks for your help this week with the house work and everything else.

Lisa, Darcee(C.J. actually) I want to thank you for taking the boys the weekend before all of this. They both had so much fun and it was good to have a girls weekend. Also thanks McKayle and Mitch for driving Kyler to Lisa's house and back home.

Finally Matt and Malea you two are awesome. I am really greatful that you guys live so close and are so willing to drag my kids along with you. I don't know how you do it, but I am glad that you do.

Sorry still no cords for the camera but let me tell you I have some adorable pictures of Ellie right before she went into surgery, hopefully I can post them soon.

Surgery Update

Sorry guys. I didn't even think to put what Ellie was having surgery for. Since she was 2 months old she has been getting high fevers of 102-104 degrees. It lasts only for a day or two but tylenol and motrin don't seem to touch it. So we have been in and out of the doctors office, hospitalized 2 times, sent up north to a "fever clinic", in and out of instacare and the ER several times. No one seems to know what is wrong. She also gets a really red throat and blisters in her mouth when she gets her fevers. Our last time at the doctors he suggested that we go see a ear nose and throat doctor to see if the fevers could be associated with her tonsils and adnoids. When we went to the doctor the first thing he said was that he had read her history that was faxed over by her primary care dr. and he thought we should go ahead with taking her tonsils out. There is some medical term that he kept saying the name of but I didn't quite catch it, but there was an article in the newspaper that talked about this same thing that happened to a dr.'s little girl and taking out her tonsils helped. It is only a 50/50 chance that it will help Ellie, but well worth the risk if you ask me. What will we be out? Just tonsils and adnoids right?

So long story short (kind of) Ellie is getting her tonsils out in hopes that it gets rid of the fevers. So if any of you would like to fast on Monday for her I would really appreciate it.

Single Mom

O.K. sorry it's been so long(Lisa). I know everyone is dying to know what's going on in the life of the Scott Family. Here we go. Ben has left us. I am now officially a single mom. HA HA gotcha didn't I? Ben actually is gone for a month straight and we miss him very much. It is really hard trying to be mom and dad. Sometimes the house work doesn't get done but the kids are taken care of, that's what really matters right? I took Ellie to the doctors today and we are set for sugery next week! Wow huh, that was quick. The doctor was very nice and said if Ellie was his daughter he would do the same thing, so next week on top of being single I have a child to care for after surgery, good thing so much family is around. I am sure it will be nice with the extra hands.

Sorry there are no pictures but my husband left and I can't find the camera cords to attach any pictures so for now you have to put up with me rambling on and on with no pictures to make it a little more pleasant to visit my blog.

Kason and Kyler are both doing really well with this new year of school and Ellie and I are adjusting to the whole day by ourselves. So basically thats whats been going on. Hopefully next time there can be pictures.

Runaway kindergartener

O.K. so you notice there are no pictures, that's because my cute little kindergartener was MIA when I went to pick him up from school today. I noticed his whole class standing in a line waiting for moms and dads to come and pick them up but as I was scanning the class, no Kason! I went up to the teacher and asked if my mom had picked him up. She said no but not to worry he didn't go with anyone else either. Well, where was he? We checked the classroom, the hall, the playground, still no Kason. Long story short, he was somewhere he shouldn't have been and he wouldn't tell anyone where he was. I should have told you that first. He doesn't talk to his teacher, but he wouldn't even talk to me or my mom when we asked where he was. Hopefully Ben can get it out of him tonight. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to handle a mute child?

Six years ago Kason joined our family. He has been a joy (and a challenge) ever since. He really adds alot to our family and we love him. Happy Birthday Bud!

Kyler's 1st sleepover

Kyler has been begging us to let him have a sleep over with some of the cousins before school starts back up. Ben finally gave in and said he could have one tonight. I told him that i have plans early tomorrow morning so he is in charge, and he still agreed to have one! We went and rented a movie for them to watch and popped some popcorn for them to eat. Then the kids got banished to the upstairs while I got ready for bed and Ben did his own thing. Not too much fun, but the kids still seem to be having a good time. Ben learned that he won't be doing this again any time soon. He just doesn't have too much patience with the kids after working all day.

Potty Training

Can you say Big Girl!!!! Yeah! Ellie is now going to the bathroom all by herself. She still wears pull-ups at night but she wakes up and they are still dry, I just can't chance all the laundry yet if an accident happens in the night. I am amazed at how one pair of grandmas homemade "special panties" has made her want to go to the bathroom like a big girl. Thanks mom.

Here is the most recent picture of the kids that I have. I know it's clear back from Easter but do you know how hard it is to get my 3 little trouble makers together?
